what are the 4 types of film openings.

There are 4 different types of film openings.  They are:
  • still images
  • moving images
  • animation/motion
  • blank screen.
My favorite type of title sequence in a film opening is "moving images".  The reason for this is because moving images can get a message across early on in the movie and tends to foreshadow oncoming events in the movie, much more effectively than other types of film sequences.

Zodiac, is a thriller movie.  In the film opening of zodiac, a title sequence over moving images is used.  Zodiac (2007) — Art of the Title
The title sequence over moving images in zodiac, sends across multiple messages to the audience and this is the reason i like this title sequence.   During the title sequence Jake Gyllenhaal is shown running across the street, as fast as he can, to get to work.  He was also shown running inside his work place.  The fact that he is running everywhere shows some sort of desperation, to get somewhere, or to do something.  The reason this is effective is because this foreshadows the desperation he will be in, to find the zodiac later on in the movie.
