RESEARCH-Analysis of one of my favourite films-Captain America
Analysis of one of my favourite films-Captain America
The film title sequence I analysed is Captain America the last avenger. The soundtrack for the title sequence is the first thing seen or heard and it is a cheery fanfare which is a good representation of the genre as it is a superhero movie and that sort of music is normally associated with a hero. The soundtrack also represents the calling of war as the brass fanfare also has connotations with the military forces which is a theme of the title sequence and also thee film itself. The very first thing seen is an American war poster this also contributes to the themes of war and heroism that the whole title sequence is trying to display. The title sequence uses numerous images that display world war two America with the titles integrated around them.
This title sequence is a titles using animation or motion as the pictures are manipulated in post-production using a range of media and editing and the titles are completely integrated in the images, however the images don’t themselves move and it is only the transitions and effects done to the images that are produced in post-production plus the titles. I feel that the war pictures that don’t move add to the title sequence showing that it was set in WW2 as it gives us insight to the location of the film before it has started yet.
Though we are not yet introduced to any characters yet we are aware that it is going to take place in a time of war and that might give us some insight to what character to except for example soldiers. The title that is the last thing we see in the title sequence also gives us an obvious hint that Captain America is going to be the main character of the film and although we are not introduced to any plot yet we could infer that captain America is going to fight in the war or help in the war some way.
