RESEARCH- What is the purpose of a title sequence and film opening

The purpose of a title sequence and film opening is for the audience to get a film of what the film will be about and what would be in it.

The title sequence often contains the cast list of the cast of main actors of the film, the film title and the crew behind the scenes of the film who helped produced to make the film. Within creating this the designer has to think about the theme of the film to know how to transition the text and what font and colours to use that are in contrast to the film opening however compliment the whole look and feel of the layout and design.

The film opening of the film often shows the production company at the start (ident) and the distribution logo e.g universal. After the ident comes in the film opening usually shows the setting of where the movie is set is along with the main character, soundtrack, sound effects, lots of detailed close up shots and establishing when showing the setting, different ranges of shot lengths. This establishes the genre and sets the mood and the tone of the film. There is also clues given on what the plot would be by giving a narrative or images that are related to the film.
