RESEARCH- Why is sound so important in a film?

Sound is used in film to establish tone, atmosphere and to help give the audience clues about the plot, characters or to identify the genre of the film. It is also used to help 'suspend disbelief' to create realism for the viewer and heighten their experience of the film.

Sound- Is everything that you hear.

Soundscape- A build up of a combination of different sounds at the same to create an atmosphere e.g. wind, birds and car horn beeping.

Sound Design- Added edited sound effects- The process of generating/ editing audio to make a sound sound more defined or louder.

Suspending Disbelief- The ability to watch a film and believe it to enjoy the film.

Watching a film opening without sound made the opening less interesting and more confusing as to what was going on with not much feel of the setting.
